A letter containing the following has been received by Mrs W. Lock from Sir J. J. Kinsey, the Consul for Belgium at Christchurch: —"l have been requested by the Consul for Belgium at Sydney, M. Henri. Segaert, to hand to you a Diploma and Medaille de la Jteine Elisabeth in recognition of your distinguished service on behalf of the Belgian relief- work. I am also asked to convey to you, with the expression of Belgium's gratitude for .your 'valuable work, the Consul's most heartfelt congratulations, to which I may foe allowed to add the Vice-Consul's (Mr Cyril J. Ward) and ray felicitai^ons." ■- Mr Allan Sawell, B:A. } at present on the staff oi>-Nelson-College; has been appointed senior resident master of the secondary department of John McUlashan College, Dunedin.
