ACCIDENTS.
December 9th
The police were advised yesterday that a man named Porsson had been rescued by Maoris from an island near the Cro±.<elles. It appears that Porsson left West Wanganui one day last week in an oil launch for Collingwood, but was blown out of his course. The launch, it is stated, foundered off the Croixelles,. and Persson sAvam to an island in the vicinity, where lie remained without food and water for three days until rescued by the Maoris. The police communicated with the Croixelles yesterday to see if Persson required medical attention, but received a reply stating that he was being wc]l looked after by the Maoris. There was a narrow escape from -a serious accident near the Norman by bridge on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Ulric West was riding'a motor cycle with side car attached down. Tasnian street, and was turning to go on to the bridge when he was compelled to take a wide sweep to avoid a motor car which was travellinp at a fast pace across the bridge. In doing so the wheel of the side car ljfted, and'the machine charged down a bank at the side of the road, coming into contact with an old wooden building, the boards of which were broken m, leaving a space of about. 10 feet -by 15 feet. Fortunately the cyclist escaped with a few abrasions, and the machine was not much knocked about. December 11th.
Mr W. Richards, electrician, collided witli a motor car at the corner of Milton and Bridge stfeets yesterday mornin« with the result that he sustained a broken arm and a cut on the head, Mr pochards was admitted to the Hospital. December 17th. \ young man named George Whitnall, gWed 26 years, while employed TrashfeltirT* at Murchison on Saturday, received injuries, by a tree falling on him, and was. admitted-to-the Hospital in the
