The purser's list '■ showed a total of 25 Hindus and 15 Chinese on the steamer. On her lasttrip here the Maheno brought 12 Chinese, and the Paloona, from the Western Pacific, brought five Hindus and four Chinese, thus making to-day's influx the heaviest of the month. Statistics show that a. total of .137 Hindus and 130 Chin- , ese have arrived in Auckland since January last.
