TASMAN
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
On Friday evening a most successful concert was given, by the pupils of the Tasman School, under the direction of the headmaster, Mr A. G. Hamilton, assisted by Mrs Hamilton and Mrs G. W. Darvall. and a number of willing workers. The concert was held in the Co-operative Hall, which was.most artistically and tastefully decorated and ar-. ranged for the occasion. It is seldom that such a crowd has gathered at Tasman, there being well over two hundred present. The various items included i songs, recitations, dialogues, musical, ! items, and the play "Boot and the | Fairies," rendered in a most creditable manner by the pupila. Mrs l)_ari vail acted as accompanist,1 and the Tasi man Orchestra under Mr H. Johnstone ' discoursed music at intervals during the evening. The Tasman School was opened six years ago with 9 pupils, and now the attendance is about 40. Under the control of Mr Hamilton the general tone o* the school has been kept at a high standard, and good results have been flbtained at the examinations.
