Wellington, Dec. 16. At the Supreme Court sentences were passed as follows: — Norman Davies, for forgery of re* ceipts for money due to returned soldiers, was fined £25 and ordered to remain in prison until the fine is paid. • John Clifford Zimmerman, for theft at Woodville o£ a postal package and for opening postal packages, was fined £10 and ordered to bo kept in gaol until the am6unt is paid, but not for a. longer period; than six months. William John Smith, for theft of a horse, saddle and bridle, was sentenced to 12 .months' imprisonment. . Walter Henry Newman, for theft from the person, was ordered to be detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding four years. He is already undergoing imprisonment. Laurie'Davis, for breaking and entering, was Sentenced to one year s hard labour and thereafter to be detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding four years.
