TIMBER PRICES.

[UNirSJJ jiIKSS ASSOCIATION.]

Auckland, Doc. 1. A contradiction is given by the Board of Trade to statements that New Zealand timbers can be purchased in Australia at prices lower than those ruling for the same classes of timber in New, Zealand. So far as New Zealand prices sre concerned, these are controlled by iho Board of Trade by agreement with the sawmillcis; and Australian lists in: the possession of the board show thai; prices are considerably lower in New Zealand for all classes of New Zealand tim'berij. A misconception has probably arisen owing -to the fact that-Australia© lists, in some cases quote prices at per !sflOft lineal, whereas the same classes of timber in New Zealand price lists would (k> quoted at per 100 ft Buper.
