"REFORM" CANNOT GIVE SECURITIES.
During four sessions Sir Joseph Ward passed amongst other measures the following Acts:—Advances to Workers, National Endowment, Public Service Classification, Public Service, Superannuation, Infant Life Protection,; Workers' Compensation, Public Debt Extinction, and the Water Power (introducing the hydro-electric idea). Commercial Trusts, National Provident Fund, Workers' Dwellings, Progressive Land and Income Tax, Defence Amendment, and Municipal Corporations, in addition to this de displayed remarkable sagacity in regard to the naval position, and the Uattle-cruiser New Zealand came into being. No one criticises his action now, but it was one of the sins for which he was punished in 1911. This is a record for four years. What has Mr Massey to show for the four sessions unaffected by war and the Coalition? When a bank lends money it requires adequate securities. So when a party appeals for the support of the electors' it should be asked to give securities. The security of the Liberals is on»the Statute Books. Where is Mr Massey's ? Where are the measui-es that justify all this talk about maintaining the Coalition that-the best brains might "be available for the management of the Dominion's affairs P--' '"Southland News."
