NEW COMMISSION AT DARWIN
PRECAUTIONS AGAINST DIS-
TURBANCES

The Governmeint is determined to suppress any further demonstrations against officials in the Northern Territory. Mr Staniforth Smith, the new Deputy Administrator, and other recently'appointed officers, together with a new mounted patrol of thirty men, reached Darwin on Saturday. The cruiser Brisbane remains in the event of further outbreaks, the labour element having expressed its intention to boycott the Commission, whose arrival is expected to be the signal for a fresh outbreak.
