MR. FIELD AT TASMAN.
Mr. T. A. H. Field, M.P., held a meeting a t Tasman on Wednesday night, when there was a very good attendance. Mr. F. E. Nottage was voted to the chair. In the course of his remarks, the candidate referred to the importance of light railways to the Tasman district. At present the Act did hot provide for the construction of light railways below a certain width, but Mr. Field had the assurance of tho Minister of Public Works that this would be amended at an early date. Light railways are a plank in Mr. Massey's platform. Tney are intimately connected with his policy of in creased production, which is so necessary to enable the Dominion to meet its obligations. Mr. Field said that it was necessary to have a strong Government during the war, and it was just as necessary to have a strong Government in the next Parliament to meet the great problems of the future. During the last few months Mr. Massey had been steadiiy improving his position with the electors. After a number of questions had! been asked. Mr. Voflmer proposed aj vote of thanks to Mr. Field, and the. meeting terminated with a vote of' thanks to the chairman. At the close of the proceedings a strong committee was j formed to forward Mr. Field's Candida-; ture.:; —Communicated.
