THE R.S.A. AND POLITICS.
(To the Editor of "The Colonist)
Si t) —Mr Wilkinson has cither intentionally or otherwise missed the point of my letter. He permitted and acquiesced in the following advertisement or publication in Mr Lomax's interests and candidature:—"Mr C. Cr. Wilkinson, president of the Motueka Branch of the N. Z. Keturned Soldiers' Association, secretary" (of Mr Lomax's committee). The inference is clear in the above publication that Mr Wilkinson was. representing the* above association on such committee and as secretary. JLhis was directly in opposition to the above association, its members, and their respective objects and .interestsMr Wilkinson need have no fear for himself or any returned soldier of receiving credit for'clean fighting, when such credit is earned, and virtue has its own reward. My letter, aimed at ensuring ■a clean contest, has so far, at least, effected its objects in forcing Mr Wilkinson's acknowledgment at last of his true position. I can recommend to Mr Wilkinson the use of a regimental number as a substitute, not a cloak, for the ordinary signature. I am, etc., SOLDIER No. 6/6119. Motueka, Nov. 24th. . ;
