The garden party held in the grounds of Mr H. Hunter-Brown, Tory street, on Saturday afternoon in aid of the fund now beincc raised to purchase a motor car for the Plunket nurse, attracted a large attendance, chiefly ladies, and proved a great success. Excellent business was done at the various stalls? and it is expected that as a result of the effort over £70 will bo realised. The following were the stall-holders:—Afternoon tea] Mesdames C. Y. Fell and Kidson, Misses Hurpt Bond, Hunter-Brown, and assistants • work stall, Mesdames Pharazyn, Evan* and C. R. Foil; cake stall, Mesdames Green, Sty die, and G. Davidson, and Miss Maekay; produce stall,' Mesdames McKillop and Pogson and Miss Bisley; sweet stall, Mrs Lester, Misses VininV (2), D. Snode;rass and M. Andrew "flower stall, Misses Cresswell ; lemomvlo and cream, Mrs Stevens, Misses Rogers and Robison; lavender stall, Miss^Greenwood; toys, Mesdames "W. S Snodjfrass and Turner and Miss Turner; houp-la, Mrs (Dr.) J'amieson. Mr llo'jert Warren, who has been for the nast three and a half years with Messrs Dndson and Son, was on'the eve of his departure from Nelson presented with a case of pipes and other useful articles by the' employees of the firm Mr A. Ihiasc made the presentation, and testified to the goodwill in which Mr "Warren was held, not .only by the firm nnd its employees, but also by its clients.1 Cheers were driven for the recipient and a ,4'ish expressed for his future pro«i>entj.
