NELSON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

SPRING SHOW

EXCEPTIONALLY FINE DISPLAY • OF NARCISSI.

The Nelson Horticultural Society's spring s how opened at the Drill Sail yesterday, and was well patronised by the public. The exhibition is considered to _be the best yet held in the city. Keeora entries were received for all classes, the biggest increases being in the decorative and pot plant sections Jn the narcissi, the display of trumpet varieties is perhaps not quite so good a^ has been seen at previous shows bufc there 13 a marked improvement in the cup varieties. The decorative section is particularly attractive this year, some new classes having been added ' There were ten decorated tables, which were an attraction in themselves. The award for champion trumpet was gained by Mr A JL• iasker with a fine specimen of Robert Sydenham ; and Mrs G. Wastne v scored for the champion chalice cup with the same bloom (Bernardino) with which she was successful at the Wa-Ea-puaka show on Saturday last. A number of pot plants were staged for. exhibition only by the Mental Hospital ana Mrs Bemvick.
