At/ th© Theatre Royal to-night one of those highly successful picture' plays that has become associated with Harold Lockwbod,' will head "tEe ofll. As: Walker Farr, Lockwood is happily suited. The character tales him from so--ciety to the "broad highway"— from a young millionaire society.butterfly to a tramp and a modern knight, who aims to right some of the wrongs he meets with^on his journey. "The Landloper" is the fascinating story of a wealthy young man of high social position, who holds the theory that any man can extract the full measure of joy out of life, no matter what his station. To prove that he is correct, he makes a wager with a friend that, starting penniless, he can assxime the role of a tramp and return at the end of three months ' none ihe worse for his experience. At the expiration of this period he chances to meet Kate Kilgour and her fiance, Richard Dodd, in a stalled motor car on a country road. Our hero, who is now known as Walter Farr, repairs the car and wins the profuse thanks of Kate, but Richard refuses to thank a mere tramp. Fascinated by the girl's charm, Farr follows in the wake of tTEe couple to town. There he is taken into town activities, and soon becomes a prominent figure. .Of course, he sees Kate again, and mutual admiration arises Pauline Curle.y appears in the leading female role as Kate Kilgour, little Gertrude Malouey is Rose Marie, the child, and Bert Starkey is the deformed river man whose wonderful., cheerfulness despite his condition helps to awaken Fair's better nature. Beautiful scenic backgrounds are prominent in this picture. First there is ah opportunity to view tne beauties of Palm Beach Florida ; then some of the most picturesque rustic scenery available in that' beautyspot of the world, the State of Florida The supporting pictures are of a very high standard.
