London, April 8. Counsel for Rutherford intimated that the defence would be that accused was insane when he committed the murder. Evidence was tendered that Rutherford suffered from dermatitis in the arms and feet,. and his mind waß sometimes affected by violent eczema. There had been lunacy in tKe family. A number of incidents were quoted in. support of the plea of insanity.
