THE WOOL MARKET.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association'
(Received March 22, 0.30 a.m.) London, March 20.
Mr Goldfinch, addressing the Wool Council, said it was estimated that 556,000 bales would arrive during the first quarter, in addition to 972,000 bales of Australian afloat arriving after March 31. This would be sufficient for! the needs of Britain, France, Italy, and Belgium. It hoped to arrange for still larger shipments, but the position was not wholly favourable owing to steamers being, delayed and diverted for reasons connected with movements of troops. Twenty-one cargoes were recently landed' or transhipped in the East. Wool thus delayed was forwarded subsequently in such a manner as to disturb arrangements and classification. It had been decided, despite these delays, that the London auctions should be unaltered.
