_Mr. F. G. Gibbs, on behalf of the Nelson Forestry League, urged that a forestry expert should be engaged to report on the question of transforming the birc-h forests in the Nelson district into timber forests. Mr. Hutchins had expressed,.the opinion that the transformation could be effected, but experiments would be required. Mr.' Hutchins suggested that the work should be carried out by the Government. If successful,, many worthless areas would be converted into valuable timber country.
