Canterbury continued their first innings, which closed for 291 (Woods 95, Thomas 73.) Smith got six wickets for 109 and Coates three for 63. Auckland made ]42 (Hemus 41). Mcßeth got nine Tickets for 56. At call of time Canterbury in their second innings had lost four wickets for 200 (Lusk 94, Jones 51).
