[ Onited Press Association. t

Hamilton, Jan. 4. The French Mission passed through Hamilton last night. Opportunity was taken by the Mayor and members of the French War "Orphans Fund Committee to present-to General Pau a draft for £6000 en behalf of the destitute in France.

The MayoiJ stated that over £7000 had been collected, and £1400 had already been forwarded. The money had been collected from the whole of NewZealand. The people of the Dominion realised the debt they owed to France, and desired to help the many little ones m that country who had been rendered homeless and orphaned hy the war. General Pau returned thanks for the magnificent gift. He said it was needed, there being thousands of mutilated and homeless children in France and Belgium. He would see that the money was expended for the purpose for which it had been collected.
