DISTINCTIONS FOR NEW ZEALAND OFFICERS.

Generals Sir William Birdwood and Sir John Monash have been awarded the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. j George. The following New Zealand officers appear in the New Year Honours List: Companions of St. Michael and St. George: Colonels D. McGavin and D. N. Murray. Officers of the British Empire Order: | Captains F. Hindley and R. Riddiford ! (Infantry), Major F. W. Parker (Army | Service Corps), Major L. Shera (Engineers). ■ Distinguished Service Order: Lieut.- ---| Colonels G. Craig (Medical Corps), N. F. Shepherd (Infantry), Majors W. J. ! Jennings (Machine Gunners), R. G. Milligan, C. S'ommerville, R. A. Wilson (Artillery), N. H. Wilson, and Captain A. S. Falconer (Infantry). A bar to the Military Cross has been awarded to the following Now Zealanders:— Engineers: Captains R. Daldy and |M: G. Newbold. ! Medical Corps: Captains A. D. ■Whyte and N. M. Dempster. |■■ Infantry: Lieutenant A. Baxter. • Maori Contingent: Captain E. Tingey. i Machine-gun Corps: Lieutenant A. W. Brown. | Chaplains: Revs. D. C. Herron, C. | Walls. • The Royal Red Cross has been award|ed to Sister B. M. Huddlestone. The Meritorious Service Medal has | been awarded to Corporal D. S. Millen. Seventeen New Zealanders have been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
