STOKE PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.
The 'annual meeting of the Stoke Progressive Association was held on De- ! cember 30th, Mr J. Biggar in the chair. The report of the past years work and the balance-sheet were, read and adopted. There is a balance in hand of £2 9s 3d. The election of officers for 1919 resulted as follows:—President, Mr H. Ching; vice-president, Mr J. Biggar; secretary, Mr R. Black (re-elected); committee, Messrs W. Heatn, W. Kenning, and A. Burton. - Votes of thanks were accorded to tlie. ; retiring officers for their work during jthe past year. j The meeting discussed the matter of 1 the proposed shooting butts for the Defence Department- on the Quarantine 'land,', which it was suggested 'might be J la danger to residents and fishing and (boating parties. j The question of arranging a motor j'bus service between Stoke and Nelson Iwas also raised. Further consideration of both subjects was adjourned till the next meeting.
