Sergeant H. C. Rowe, son of Mr H. Rowe, of Washington Vnlley, has been j awarded a bar to the Military Medal. At a meeting of the Collingwood County Council held on October sth "the following; resolution was passed, the members standing:—"That this council plncp on record its sincere regret at the death, of the late Serseant N. G. launders, who before enlisting with the Twenty-eighth Reinforcements had been a worthy noimcillor and an esteemed citizen of the district; a copyof the resolution to he sent to his widow." The late Sergeant Norm an G. Saundevs, who was a victim of tlio opideniie t!>nt affected the Fortieth Re.mi'iiVoements. was a. native of the Manawntu district, and came .to C'ollingwood nearly sixteen years ago, trking up land on the Taitapu estate. He was also a member of the firm of Proiise and Smiiide-rs,. timber and flax millors. who haye done a hiv; nioiieeririg -work that hns: very materially advanced the settlement and prosperity of the ostato. . A widow, three sisters' and two brothers are left to mourn his less.
