GALE AT TAKAKA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

On Sunday a living gale blew at Takaka for some hours, and reports say the tall chimney stack at the Tarakohc cement works suffered, severely., A huge crack has appeared in one of the courses, and guy ropes had to be rigged to prevent a disaster. It is feared the whole stack will have to come down.

Report has it that ttio shear legs at the Uruv/honua marble quarry collapsed., failing- on the engine recently installed, and doing much damage.
