: Wellington'j-.' September 23. The British Ministry of Information states:—The Austrian peace note has been satisfactorily dealt with by Mr Balrour, President Wilson, and M. Clemenceau. It is not yet known .how deeply the German Government is implicated in the issue of the Note, but it certainly knew the gist of it, if not its text '
The German offer of peace to Belgium as outlined in the presses'wholly improbable Sucli stipulations and bargainings as are suggested would be an unwarranted interference in the internal affairs, of another sovereign State, I and though the Germans themselves es- ■ tablished the principle of reparation by demanding three hundred millions compensation for Germans injured b.y Russians in the war, Germany has now herself" refused any reparation for -the Tuin brought by Germans- in Belgium.
