WeElmgton, 'September 23. The. Minister of Education, reolying X:O a deputation from the Bon rd of Governors'of Wellington College and the Girls' High School regarding the question of increased accommodation, said that unless a largely increased sum was granted for buildings and educational purposes it -would "be impossible for him to meet the demands that Avere being made throughout the Dominion. Apart from the money asked for in'connection . with primary arid technical school buildings, a sum of approximately, .«103.000 would-be required if tho tt'hqletfnf the application's for additions to px'ist-ing- secondarj'}schools and the': establishment of new-high schools- were appypyed. He was insistently C en-, cloavouring to obtain all.the money he noefled in the field of educational development, but ,it '^vas plain to him, having regard to the heavy demands that were being, made on the Government for other objects, that a, loan would require to be provided for. education or funds raised by. imposing additionai taxation.
