dent learns that Mr Edison's invention for detecting submai'ines is an electrical device fastened to submarine chas-

ers. It ■is capable of indicating the presence- of a boat under the "Rater for a radius of five miles. The position of £bo boat can also be detected with reasonable accuracy.
