REGULATIONS AS TO THEIR PRODUCTION. A Gazette Extraordinary, published recently, contains the following regu-| Lauuns 'as to ilie production oi: military papers upon demand by any constable: 1. l'n these , .peculations "military papers" means,' ifii'especfc of any person: — .. " ■ . ; (a) A certificate oi' his enrolment in the Expeditionary Force Reserve j established under the Military Service Act, 1916, signed by the Gov- ; ernment Statistician; or ' (1>) A certificate of Ms discharge in consequence of disablement or ill-health from an Expeditionary Force or from some other portion of His Majesty's forces, after &er■vieo beyond the seas during the ' present war ; or (c) An instrument granting him leave from military service m an Expeditionary Force for a period not yet expired. 2. (1) Any man v/ho may reasonably bo supposed by any constable to be of military age within the meaning of the -unitary ."service Act, 1918, and who is not in uniform of the -Sew Zealand Defence Forces or of some other portion of the military or naval forces of His Majesty, may be required by that constable there and then to produce his military papers. (2) Any person who, on being required as* aforesaid to produce his military papers, fails to produce any such papers may be detained by the constable and kept in custody for such .tune, not ftxeeeding forty-eight hours, as may be reasonably required for the purpose of ascertaining His identity and whether there are reasonable grounds for diarging him with an offence 'against the"Military Service Act, 1918, or the Army Act.
