Sir Douglas Haig reports:—
A local operation at Vilte-sur-Ancre was completely successful, the Australians carrying German positions in and around the village, which they took possession of, with 360 prisoners, and capturing twenty machine guns. Our casualties were light. We successfully raided a post southwestward of Metercn, inflicting casualties. We carried out a successful raid in the Albert sector, and repulsed an enemy raid northward of Hinges. The hostile artillery fire has increased considerably on the Albert-Bucquoy front. A French:, communique states that there is only intermittent artillery fire north and south of tho Avre.
