Mr Harley, on behalf of all iho c;ty feotels except the .Trafalgar and ItoSincial Hotels, applied vind^r section 100 Ktf the Licensing Act to have exempiion granted from keeping street lights purning. There would not be any disadvantage to tha public if tho request ITJis granted. Sergeant Barrett sail that the pojioe liad no objection to oifer so tar .%a the city hotels were roncenied. On the motion of Mr Edwards, seconded by Mr Bartlett, it was resoired to grant the request, to have effect till the annual meeting, when the matter jwould come under review again. In answer to a question, Mr Hariey said that he understood that the BeenBee of the Trafalgar Hotel did not care one wa.v or the other, and the licensee of the Provincial Holel objected to the proposal. Neither signed the petition.
