REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT.
After a visit to Brightwater yesterday Mr J\ A. H. Field, M.P., sent the following telegram to the Minister of Public Works:— <:At the request of Brighfcwater residents I inspected damage at Brightwater caused by Government protection Avail being carried away. It is absolutely necessary to repair and strengthen protection wall immediately, otherwise Brightwater township will be seriously endangered even 'by--ordin-ary, floods, and river may cut new channel through townshiy." Mr Field is also writing to tlie Minister, giving particulars in support of the representation?: made in his telegram.
