STATE COLLIERY TROUBLES.

[UKited Pkehb Association.]

, Creymoisth, March 8. A meeting of the State Collieries Miners' Union last night decided to stop work until the men refusing to pay the 2£ per cent, levy to assist Australian victims decide to contribute. About 40 have refused to pay the levy. Both the R-ewanui and Point Elizabeth mines are idle to-day

Another trouble at the State mines is over the position of the weighbridge at Rewanui since the big slip. The men claim that it should be placed at the mouth of the mine, instead of some distance therefrom. The management decline to accede to this request. The brakemen claim that there is a wastage, the trucks losing ■weight between the two places, and they being paid at tonnage rates.
