THE TRAIL OF THE TRUSTS.

FAT STOCK PRICES.

"The -statement 'wasi-v'niade recently that the price of fat stock is higher in the Argentine than -inviVew Zealand, but tho fat stock market reports show that this is entirely wrong/ said the Prime Minister (Right Hon. W. h\ Massey) to a "Times" reporter last week. "For example, at the Burnside •works', Otago,' 'bullocks, extra good ' are quoted at £23 2s 6d, whereas in the Argentine the price is only £14 to £15 los. Again,, at Burnside, 'bullocks, good,' are quoted. at £16 10s to £18 15s, and at Westfield. Auckland, at £18 17s 6d to £21 17s "6d, whereas in the Argentine the quotation is £8 15s to ,£lO 10s only. The significance of these figures .(added.Mr Massey) lies in the fact that the Argentine markets are under the control of the trusts, while the New Zealand markets, happily, arc not.'
