The "Daily Mail," in discussing Dr. Soft's speech, says there are at kasfe three reasons wiy the Germans can. never resume their colonial career. Tha first is that the self-governing Dominions will never permit it. Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa; have <nven their blood to the task o£ making an end of Greater Germany. They would feel that Downing Strew lad unscrupulously cold them if thew oM avowed enemy again planted their! flags. Any proposal to surrender -the German overseas possessions would g» near to disrupting the British Empire. Secondly, the whole Empire is determined that Germany shall not us© her colonies as a military stronghold Thirdly, Germany never treated leisubject aliens with mercy and justice, and tho native races hate her blooey; and brutal rule.
