TAKAKA FLORAL FETE.
<From Our Own Correspondent.)
The above annual fixture run by the j Presbyteriar Church here for many I .years came off on Wednesday, and wasj a record success'from every point of j view. The weather was perfect, the: attendance a record, and the exhibits both in number and in excellence easily beat all past records. In the ring exhibits the fancy costume events were a splendid lot, and fit to win prizes anywhere. The tent exhibits made a magnificent display—the entries in every class were so numerous and of such a high standard of excellence that the task of the judges must have been very severe. The decisions gave general satisfaction, so the Avork of judging must have been thorougtly done. Never before either at the A. and P. show or floral fete has the big booth looked so attractive. Want of space' alone prevents a fuller account of the very splendid exhibits. Specially worthy of mention were the decorated parasols, decorated tables, afternoon tea trays by girls, and tie floral designsl and designs other than floral. The winter of the last named class, Mr. H. D. Williams, deserves special praise for his. design of "The Guardian Angel"—a pretty ' idea beautifully worked out. The prize collection of New Zealand fruit was splendid, also the collection of apples and of vegetables. Mr. F. N. Jones1, of Nelson, supplied music with his magnophone. which added much to the enjoyment of the afternoon.
