SALVATION ARMY WAR WORK.
A mooting of tho Salvation Army War' Work Committee was held last evening, Liiere being n sood, attendance. As Air W. AY. Snodgrass 'was not able to be present at the ouemiig of the meeting, Mi- W. K. Wilkcs, JLayor'of Richmond, was voted to crte chair. JVlr C. Miluor, hon. treasurer, who was unabla to be present -owing to other business, sent an apology tor- his absence, and Mr J. Commandant Marshall reportjed liavin.tv \isited Motueka where a :• successful-meeting was held on Tues-|-day, and a strong committee formed. j Forty pounds were contributed in the i room, and an active canvass of the Mo(tueka district, was to be made next • week. The hon. secretary (Mr W. ,J. jMoffatt) reported on correspondence sent to a«id received from outlying districts. After a'general discussion,, it I was decided to close the appeal on 1 March Ist, as some areas have yet to be canvassed. The general opinion of jthe meeting was that, with the efforts |now being made, there was a prospect of reaching. £1000, the quota assessed .for the Nelson district.
