A carefully prepared programme of ■piano .aolos, ttuec-s, a trio, etc ,was-pre-se-nced by girl pupils t;f the Nelson Academy of -uusk: to an uudior.ee wuich, quite filled t-iio'academy rooms on Saturday evening. Those responsible for the instrumental pott-ion of the programme were Misses Eunice Knock. Vera Clarke Mabel Gardner, Muriel Wood Olive Edridge,. Jean Neale, Netta Clung-,-- Anona Pike, Mabel McLean, Doris Busbridge, Olke Brooker, Jean Harris,) .Dorothy Sriodgrass, Hilda Martin, Kate Harris, and A. E. Young. Asrroea'ble variety Avas lent to tiie programme by a recitation, entitled "Wooden Crosses" (Hornung), given by Miss Dorcas Davis, and by «ongs sung by three of the senior vocal pupils, viz., Misses G. Baigent, M. Snodgrass, and R. Dawson. ilie methods adopted in teaching some of the younger children were explained *y T> #£ P"»cipal, Air John Tait, A.X.C.0., who also intimated that an .attempt would be made in the comin^ year to form a girls'* choir, similar to the choir of boys which had received tiie hearty commendation of Mr Algernon Lindo in his "general inspection" report. Mr Tait announced that his connection with the Richmond branch, would be discontinued owing to the impossibility, through stress of work, of nis being able to supervise the activities or the branch. The work of the Academy had been steadily increasing during the two years of its existence.
