MILITARY SERVICE BOARDS.
"APPELLANTS TREATED'LIKE
,■ CRIMINALS
Strong complaint was made by Tvlr Talbot that the chairmen of-some of the Military Service Boards treated appellants, not like men who must get help in a difficulty, but like criminals. He quoted a nev/spaper report of an incident at the hearing of a case by the South Canterbury Board at Timarri, adding that there was a good deal of irl'itation over the way in which a certain chairman acted. The Minister of Defence replied .that so far as,1 his experience went the chairmen had been courteous. He would inquire into the case mentioned, but he did not think it fair publicly to judge a chairman by a newspaper repprt.
