In consequence of the German dominance of the Oulf of Higa, the Huseian Government has decided upon the evacuation of ■ Petrograd, Moscow becoming 'the capital, althou&h Petrograd is not in imminent danger. Great artillery and aerial activity, with some minor infantry operations, is reported from the Western front. Zeppelins attacked the eastern counties and London oa Friday night, causing 27... deaths and some damage. While returning to Germany the raiders were attacked over French territory^ by aeroplanes and anti-aircraft guns, five bein% brougnt down and lour others disabled. A coavoy of neutral merchantmen were attacked by Ger. man cruisers near the Shetland Islands. Two escorting British destrovera were sunk after a hard fight, and the Germans th ai sank nine of the merchant vessels, Jeaving the crews to drown., A homeward bound American transport was submarined and sunk.
