The monthly meeting of the "vv aiinea Wqst Ik>ad Board was held on the 2nd inst. Present: Messrs. W. L. Palmo' (chairman), ChaUies, Hall, Hunter, and Tomlmson.

. The Overseer reported on. the road leading to Mr .). a. iiuss's hill property. He also reported as to interviewing tho.owner of a property whose frontage the Hoard. requested should be cleared of gorse. The, party had agreed to havo the matter attended to at earliest convenience; -^

The chairman reported the result of Fair Day in Nelson, held in aid of the Red Cros-s "Our Day" ..special appeal, in which members of the Board co-oper-ated with local committees as previously arranged.

Corresyondt-nee was read from: Messrs Adams and Harley, re compensation to Messrs Gill Bros for small portion of land fid joining the new road leading to Applcby Applclands Estate.—Secretary to reply "that this Board has no knowledge of any arrangement "whereby Messrs Gill were to receive compensa-(■-(•■■>ii as stated in letter, the matter beina; a concern betw eon the Land Board and Messrs GiU.' It was left to the secretary to arrange with Mr Kingsland i-e payment for trees supplied.

The secretary intimated having applied to tho Public Works Department for nnyr^onts due to the Board on Redwood's "Valley Government grant. Owing to the unlimited supply of heads' and eggs, it was decided to draw £10.for small birds destruction.

Minor repairs were ordered for theSouth rond. • "- ' , "Accounts amounting to £13 12s were passed for payment. '
