OBJECTIONABLE ADVERTISEMENT.

(United Press Association.)

Wellington, Oct. 4. Reserved judgment was delivered this morning by Mr McCarthy, S.M.,^ at the Magistrate's Court in the case against Duncan Neven, manager of J. C. Williamson. Ltd., that he caused to be inserted a newspaper advertisement of tte cinematograph film "Intolerance," whereby the newspaper became an indecent document.

The Magistrate said that the advertisement, m his opinion, was inserted to create an impression on the public mind that the film "Intolerance" was blatantly obscene, in tte hope of swelling the number of visitors to the show. Thus it had a mischievous and immoral tendency, and the newspaper in which it was inserted became tterefore an indecent document. Defendant was convicted and fined £5 and costs' £2 9s.
