MEMORIAL SERVICE. St. Paul's Church was filled to the doors on Sunday afternoon, when a memorial service was-held in honour of the memory of Rifleman AnW. H.-Gar-beti, -who was killed in action at Messines on June 7th last. The 'Rev. F. J. Ferry .delirered a most sympathetic sermon, iakinor his text from the Istli. Chapter of St. John, 13th verse: ■ ''Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his-life for his friends." There was a large attendance of Oddfellows, the departed soldier having been a member and P.G.M.Bof tho Loyal Mataki Lodge, M.U.. 1.0.0. F. At the ck)3e of the service Miss Sybil Potter played the Dead March in Saul v.ith much feeling.
