A man named John Henry Porter, 66 yeans of age, residing witt' his eldest daughter and two sons at a house m Stanwell street, Parnell, • was found dead with his throat cut at the rear of his residence. At the inquest the Coroner returned a verdict that the deceased had committed suicide while in a state of depression, due to illhealth. The deceased (says the "Herald ') was a native of England, and had resided in the Dominion for 30 years. He was a widower, and leaves a family of 10 children-^seven sons and three daughters.
