At the adjourned inquest concernixig the- death of the girl Angus Maloney, aged 11 years, who was drowned in the Opihi River, near Pleasant Point, on .Anzac i>ay, the evidence showed that she and a companion of tiie uame a^e, frightened by seeing two boys with a ij;Tiri, attempted to cross tiio river. Both rushed down into the water. One svas drownod. and the other was helped mxi by a man. who happened to see her struggling. The boys said that they saw the "iris vading, but thought they wore paddlrvr. The Coron<?r, Mr Wyvern Wilson, concluded tliac- tlie .iqirli? had become frightened and excited, o.sd hud- slipped and fallen, but ho. did not think they had -any --raise to be frightened of the* boys, who had no intention of frightening them. A verdict of atcidenuiUy drowned was returned, no folarae being ai-taolied to anyone.-
