IMPERIAL WAR CONFERENCE.
THE PREFERENCE QUESTION.
NO CLASH WITH THE CABINET.

In tte House of Commons, in reply. to Mr Hewin's question as to whether the question of preference had bern taken out of the hands of the Imperial War Conference by the Imperial War Cabinet, Mr Long said an impression, that the Conference was not wholly satisfied with its treatment would be wholly incorrect. Tfce resolution wa» debated in the Imperial War Cabinet, and- the Dominions representatives accorded it hearty support. It was moved by Mr Massey and carried fifi* animoualy. The Conference desired it
to bo recorded that the reason why the members did not speak at length on the resolution wati that the question tad already been fully debated by the AVar Cabinet.
Mr Long added that any suggestion that the Imperial War Cabinet could take the matter from the hands of the Conference would show an imperfect appreciation of the powers of tho conference and would be warmly resented }>y_ the Dominions.
