'"The Quitter" is rich in humour, with- a touch of pathos and a considerable dasli of adventure, rut bnollv,-it itlls how the miners of x'aradise Gun'ii Income very tired of the ir.onoto'iy of »uii'-)ig life* in the back-l.il(^.\s, and, -oekw.-j, diversion or vinery, decide that one of their number must marry. The "sacrifice" to bo made falls1 upon "Happy Jack" Low is, wliu is co>npolk.d to aJvertise fov a wr.i-.,--a stipulation !■«"•:l.g made that she must be a blonde. Many answers are received to the advertioqment, and photographs of the :tpplicants. One represents a particularly attractive young lady, and is a picture of "G-lad" Mason. Glad has been only too pleased to become an applicant for the matrimonial contest owing to the obnoxious attentions of her employer, who is a mining promoter. ''Happy Jack," however, takes fright at tny prospect of marriage with "Glad," as his comrades inform him that the photograph has been forwarded by an elderly and decidedly unattractive woman who is anxious to escape being left on the shelf. This fear causes Jack to flee the mining camp. Much follows of an interesting and amusing order, a substitute being found by the miners for the runaway Jack. "Glad" goes to Paradise Gulch, but Jack had quitted the place, and that is how the picture gets the name of "The Quitter." The two, however, meet alter many experiences, and "Glad" is largely instrumental in restoring Jack's relinquished and forfeited fortunes, and the end of everything is that the twain are happily united. A comedy, "Number One," and other good items will also be shown.
