The secretary of the Murchison branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union wrote in regard to' the protection of bush along river banks to prevent erosion by floods.:—Received. *" W. B. North wrote in regard to subdivision .of Run No. 22.—1t was resolved to offer Mr. Noi^th 202 acres at £4 per acre under section 129 of tlio Act, and that -.surrender of renewable lease No. 248 be accepted, purchase value of £320 and valuation for improvements £83 to be allowed.

The Murchison County Council forwarded scheme for expenditure cf thirds accrued to December 31st, 191G, amounting to £40 19s 8d. —Approved. The Commissioner stated that authority was required to add 2 acres 1 rood 7 perches of closed road to section 9, block iii, Lewis survey district.

The Commissioner . was granted authority to amend titles of certain sections _ in the Maruia and Burnett survey district on account of areas being taken for roads by. the Public Works Department.

W. Fitzpatrick wrote asking the assistance of the board to give him access to section 1, block vii, Hope survey district, or in lieu thereof exemption from rent.-t—Two years' exemption from rent to be recommended.

A schedule of sections in Una and Matakitaki survey districts for assessment of prices, etc., was laid before the board._ —It was1 resolved to adjourn consideration of same for one month.

The Commissioner moved that an area of 43 acres 1 rood 8 perches recommended to be leased to H. D. T. Salisbury on renewable lease on 14th October, 1915, be altered to cash. Approved.

Mr. Patterson ;nioved that tho Minister be recommended to amend the Land Act so as to extend the granting of rebates to lessees1 on all permanent tenures, and in particular to education reserves, pastoral licenses under the mining regulations, and leases under part viii of the Land Act, 1908. — Carried, recommendation to be forwarded to Minister.

Mr. Griffiths, of Dovedale, waited on the board with reference to obtaining assistance in regard to grass seeding on land recently burnt.—Adjourned for ranger's report.
