TOMATOES FOR SOLDIERS.
AN APPEAL TO GROWERS
An appeal is now being made for tomatoes for the Nelson soldiers in the camps at Trentham aud ii'eatherston. Owing to the trouble on the waterfront at Wellington there i s a . probability of large quantities of tomatoes going to waste. The Lady Liverpool Committee has the matter in hand, and has been informed that the Anchor Company will carry the tomatoes free and will arrange for their unloading by the steamer statf., Donors may rest assured that tomatoes' given for €he soldiers will reach theixi destination.
" Those intending to^ donate tomatoes are requested to communicate withi either Mrs Lock, Mrs Crawford, Mrs Pogson, Mr Wallace Snodgrass, or Mr, Mr J. Baird. The first shipment will be despatched on Thursday. The committee will pick and pack the tomatoes, if desired, and gifts of cases or boxes suitable for. packing are soli-* cited.
