THE NELSON TROTS.
The Nelson Trotting Club's annual meeting takes place at Richmond Park on Wednesday next, the 14th inst. The first race is timed, to start at 1 p.m. and the Dash, the final event, at 5.20. The course is in splendid order, and the secretary (Mr J. Glen) has made all arrangements necessary to ensure a successful meeting. Mr J. Bryce inadvertently omitted a word in his nomination wire, and through this was not able to accept. He will, howover, be present, at the meeting.
Mr Alborough arrived from the Coast on Saturday; bringing with him l?ernleigh and Adroth.
A. Hendricksen (watersiders permitting) arrives with his team on Tuesday morning. C: One of. the-string, Peter Mac, won the Bracelet at Blenheim, and on his form there should show up well in the N.T.C. Handicap. A large number travelled out to Richmond the other morning to witness the work, but no fast times were recorded Fernleigh, assisted 'by a pacer, set the ball roiling, and after plodding round a couple of times, did a half-mile at the back of the course in 1.30.
Heirloom and Zita worked together, but the former would not strike a gait, and the latter finished quietly on her own.
Adroth and Tomtit went twice round, sprinting down the back. The former was held safely. Belle of Bombay (W. Martin up) moved nicely, but was not extended.
C. White's team, McCormack and The Native, supplied the finale to an uneventful morning's work.
