Wellington, Dec. 12. , An inquest was opened to-day in connection with the Cambridge Terrace cra'gedy. . A verdict was returned that Emily Thomas was strangled by Gilbert ! Marshall. , , The evidence pointed to '.Marshall's having committed suicide, I after murdering vh& woman, liy taking chlorodyne. The Coroner decided to defer entering up a-vordict respecting tht* nian until the analyst haci reported oil the contents of the stomach. The body of an elderly man -found ■ floating in Oriental Bay with his hands and feet tied has been identified as that of Thos. Kerr. a former nat'rart of Portrua Mental.Hospital. At the inquest to-day a Verdict'of suicide was recorded.
