force, attacking on the flank, forced Wahle back to Lupembe.' Colonel Murray was reinforced, and pursued the enemy towards Mahengo, killing 61 and taking 33 prisoners. After a strong pursuit Wahle surrendered with seven white officers and 47 men and 240 Askaris. A howitzer and three maxims were captured, while a force detached by Wahle earlier in the hope of enveloping General JNorthey, was- ror,nded up at Itembute.
Colonel Marriott' was awarded the Military Cross in the field.
