Mr Thomas King, a well known resident of the West Coast, died at the Westland Hospital last week.
The Rev. W. E. Lambert, minister of the Nelson Baptist Church for the past six years, has resigned the pastorate, and will close his ministry at Nelson at the end of February.
Mr F. Denton, Town Clerk at Grejv mouth, has been granted leave of absence in order to enlist. His father, Mi- J. H. Denton, has been appointed to temporarily fill the position.

Beach, of Richmond, has been informed by Base Records thafr her son, Private Beach, had been admitted to ■the\-2nd--;.liondpn;vHospital, and later that he had been transferred ttf the New ~ Zealand Hospital at Brockenliurst. In a letter written after his admission to the hospital, Private Beach stated that while engaged with a machine gun section he was injured by the explosion of a shell. -
Word was received by his parents on Saturday (says tho "Pelorus Guardian") that Rifleman Arthur Congdon. who was reported wounded as far back as September loth, is now reported killed in action dbout the same; date. Private Congdon, who was 21 j'ears of age r and enlisted with the Rifle Brigao'e of the Seventh Reinforcements, was a son of Mr J. Congdon, of Havelock.
A Crimean veteran passed away sucidenly- on Monday at Leith Valley, Dunedin, where h© had been living for the past 46 years. This was Mr Alexander Carson, who was born in County Down, Ireland, in 1829 and attained the age of 87 last August. A. farewell was tendered at the Haeremai Tea .> Robins:-yesterday afternoon to Mrs J. H. MacKenzie, by members of the lied Cross and Lady Lkernool Committees. Mrs MacKeuzie has been a member of both of these corrin-itteeß, and in many ways has helped-on the work which they haive in hand. She was a member of the committee •which visited sick and woundtid soldiers m hospital, and her efforts on behalf of the Belgian Relief Fund vill be in the-public mind. Her steady support ot^patriotic working partjesi.was referred to at yesterday's gathering. Mrs w. Lock, who was in the chair, said ;that what Mis MacKenzie had done for patriotic purposes would be remembered with thankfulness by Nebonians.
